Both Ron and Sharon wanted to keep his existing business, which could be done electronically from any location, but felt it would be good for him to hire on with a large firm as their main I. T. Manager. He felt with a good salary they could live well, save for two sons’ college expenses, and enjoy his love of boating and water sports with his family.

We finished the discussion and on the way home I began to think how this could happen. Sharon was tall and thin, with long blond hair and is very beautiful. She wants to move to the beach. What icon could I use for the best symbolism to represent her?

Ron was golf-tanned in Indiana, but longed for a boating tan. He was tall, athletic and attractive as well. Where would I ever find icons for this I wondered to myself?

The next day I was buying a birthday present for a child in the toy department of the local discount store. As I passed the dolls section there was a Barbie dressed for the beach with her perfectly tanned Ken doll standing beside her ready for a day of fun.

Did I dare to offend my friends and business associates with Ken and Barbie icons? This was not an easy job. I decided I would buy them and use a bit of humor with my friends to see if indeed the icon imagery inspiration would work.

As you might well imagine, they were a bit surprised at my icon choices. I explained the intention theory and the significance of focusing on all the fun they wanted to have by the water. I even made jokes about Sharon being a Barbie look alike in body, but being a Barbie with a brain as her background is in accounting and business management.

I suggested they put the icon couple in the center of the wall straight ahead of them as they entered the bedroom door. That position would be the Future, Fame and Recognition area and their headboard was in that spot.

We all laughed as we walked into the bedroom and Sharon experimented with different ways to set up the icons. Barbie was sitting on Ron’s suitcase beside their bed when I left.

I was glad they were my friends and humoring me. Ron said, “Well, we will see what your Feng Shooey can do.” I left wondering if it would work or would I look like a real nut case to my friends.

Two weeks later Sharon began surfing the internet for job possibilities and found an I. T. / Auditor position with a publishing firm in Florida. When Ron submitted his resume the reply came from a Sarasota firm that was willing to pay a six-figure salary. They were moved in another two weeks. The quickness of the Power Feng Shui “firing up” their new life was just mind-blowing.
